Where did the Galician language come from?

Modern Galician belongs to the Western Ibero-Romance language family. It evolved from Vulgar Latin, which was spoken in the Roman province of Gallaecia and later developed into Galician-Portuguese, which was spoken in the Kingdom of Galicia.
